Default New guy with first bike ~ GSXR1000

Hi guys, just bought my first bike the other day after saving for 2 years (mom still had to help though). Its a left over 2005 GSXR 1000. Man is this thing fun! I can't wait to see what it can really do once the break in is done.

Should I follow the manual for the break in or just ride the heck of it?

BTW, I have been riding my Yamaha 49cc scooter for 2 years, so its not like I am new to bikes.
Thanks guys!

Oh, jeez. Here we go.
If you're for real, welcome to the board.
I believe the driving age in MA is 16.5 years, at least it was when I lived there years ago. So I think this is a joke.

Its a dumb nickname for Bloomington. Can't expect anything less from the dope head college kids at IU.

Never heard that one before.
Boston was always Beantown to me.
There, I actually learned something from this thread!

two completely different beasts. and the gixxer1k is a beast.

from a 49cc putt-putt scooter that you just twist-and-go to a 1000cc race bike that actually requires shifting and coordination.

a more logical jump would have been to a 250 or 500.

Lemme guess. Mommy has a fat life insurance policy out on you.

edit.... This tool has another thread started about an exhaust too. How about this junior, pay mommy back before you waste money on an exhaust for a bike that prolly won't last long.
