ninja 650r or 250r for first bike

I started the same as you but I'm 25 and you're 17. I found the 250R to be a great bike, I'm on my 2nd month on it and I'm already riding it at 7-9k rpm per gear. It takes so getting used to but once you know how to ride and are comfortable it may seem a little sluggish. (well I guess this only happens if you test your friend's 600/1000cc bike) but its plenty of bike for the city. I plan on learning on it well and possibly getting a 600 next year.

Oh and you can almost always sell it for what you paid for it if not a little less. They maintain their value exceptionally well.

I'm not going to BS you, I wouldn't be taking any interstate trips on a 250. I know people do it just fine. I just wouldn't. Wrong tool for the job.

thats why i think a 500 is better. rides almost exactly the same as a 250 except u do have alittle more extra power if u take it on the freeway.

which u will eventually do anyways.

If your probably never going to take your bike on the interstate then then the 250 is the perfect bike for you. I never even took mine on the interstate either and had plenty of fun. But when i got my 650r, i had even more fun in the progression. Get the 250 if you want something cheap and safe.
