Wife backed into bike.
So wife backed into the bike today. It is a 2008 Ninja 250r. It cracked the lower cowling and a couple pieces fell off. I think I have all the parts I need found on babbitsonline. I need the Left hand lower cowling, cowling pad for it and then a misc. cowling pad that is only like 4 bucks. All together it adds up to about 270 before shipping. Does that sound about right or do you guys think I could find the parts cheaper elsewhere.

First of all, I am SO sorry to hear about this.
Secondly, that doesnt sound bad at all. When I lowsided, I needed my left upper and lower fairing and for OEM ones they wanted around 200$ a fairing. I ended up buying one of them as the other just had a few small scratches on it. I would have bough them on ebay but no one was selling them.
I would say that sounds pretty good though.

Well I was sitting on the bike talking to a buddy at the store and she backed up to join the convo. I have no idea why she decided to do that. She hit my leg and i fell over with the bike. Thats why the damage was so minimal. My leg took the blow from the car. The damage was from the other side hitting the ground. Anyone know any other sites on line I could check out? Hopefully a site people have used and have positive feedback for? Right now I am leaning towards babbits online they are the cheapest I can find.

Ron Ayers usually has pretty good prices:
Ronayers.com Fiche Desktop Motorcycle Kawasaki 2008 Ninja Cowling Lowers
Not sure exactly which parts you need. They aren't quick, however. It may take up to 2 weeks from order to delivery to the west coast.

lol...damn. that sucks.
at least it was you're wife and not some random.
Just had a weird thought. If you had kids wouldn't it be cool to let them crayon draw something and have that transferred as a Wrap for you're fairings.....
I think it would. but just passing time.

I mean throw a serious guilt trip on her. And if you can finagle that month long steak & BJ thing you've got it made. Hell I might come visit and park behind her car too

Shop around for your parts before you order
Babbits is pretty good for OEM parts, I won't order OEM from bike bandit because the salesman lied to me. told me that everyones prices were going up and their prices are just as low as everyone, but their prices seemed higher than everyone else because they just updated their computer that day; when all the other OEM distributers update their web pages, all the prices would be the same again. The best OEM distributer I have found is SHS Powersport. I would have paid $80 extra ordering from Bike Bandit as opposed to SHS Powersport.
The one thing I realy like about Babbits is that you can plug in OEM part numbers from other distributers and it will give you the part and a list of other bikes that the part will fit. eg. plug in the part number for the water pume impeller under "quick part look-up" and you get a list of bikes that the part will fit. that part will fit every year for the make and model of my bike as well as the DL1000 (2002-2009)

Babbitts generally knows what they're doing, and they're more honest than most when it comes to how long it will take to ship.
While you're at it, make sure you buy a clutch cable (for like $20), too. I know it sounds really funny, but clutch cables sometimes wear out on 250s when you least expect them, and dealers don't always have them in stock.
