Im in my 5th month of riding. 5750 miles. No chicken strips on the back, maybe a 1/4 in on the front. Ask for people's front tire strips and that will tell who the real riders are lol Ill post up a pic tomorrow when its daylight of both front and back.

Depend on if I go to Zaxby's or the local joint.
Mine are around half an inch or less, however from what I understand, it doesn't matter much, it doesn't mean that you are cornering well if you don't have any or that you aren't if you don't.
When I get to my bike this w/e, I'll take a pic for the sake of the thread (Fender eliminator just got in so the camera will be pointed in that direction anyway)

some people tend to hang off the bike more, thus leaning less but still cornering the same.

Depends on the bike to. I have to work the Speedie a lot harder to go maintain the same corner speeds that the Daytona begs for. To the extent that I haven't had to LEAN the Daytona on the street yet, its simply to fast. Thus the Speedie has no strips and the Daytona still has an inch or so.
I need to get that thing on the track.

lol theres a set of clover highway offramps for the right side and a couple good traffic circles for the left. It's brutal, but after about my first 6 rides im down to about 1/2" on my rear tire. Past that i need to get to stratotech race track.
I'll be doing the ride to BC probably in august and soo looking forward to that.
And while it may be true that you can get the same cornering speed by leaning the bike less and hanging off more, if you have never been all the way over on your tire, youre not that skilled of a rider. I'm not there but hopefully soon once it warms up a bit, didnt feel too confident in my dunlop sportmax tires in 12 degree celcius weather.
Oh and feel free to post front and back if you should feel so inclined

So it's better to low side or be a Tundra hood ornament (like I almost was last weekend) and be a "skilled rider?"... I'll take my chicken strips to go and ride my bike home.
I think you are over estimating the use of chicken strips as a measure of a "skilled" street rider. Track riding and street riding are a little different and you shouldn't be cornering at track speeds on the street.

top quality riders can put their knee down at super low speeds. If you can see all the way around the corner, and have ridden it once (that day preferably) so you know there is no gravel or holes, theres no reason not to get off the bike and ride how it was meant to be.
Regardless its more of an issue of comfort level on the bike, a "good" rider can use all of their tire.
This thread is largely just for fun too, so lets see some pictures of the chicken strips!!!

I was just reading in Two Wheels Only magazine how leaning off your bike will keep you from running out of traction and how your friends will make fun of your strips. For the street it's the safest way to do it IMO.

Doug,
I'm from Alberta as well, and TBH the new Ninja I just got has about an inch on the rear. Partually due to what Tripped said as comming off the 955, the same corner speeds leave you with an easy inch on the back, SS bikes really are something else.
On a more serious note, however, I don't intend on attempting to scrub them off on the street any time soon. Taking a clover leaf at 80-85 leaves me 1 inch shy. With all the gravel around here now, I'm not going any farther than that, as I may be very happy that I still have that inch one day.

Very true...
...but then again who really doesn't? I mean I feel confident enough in myself to say that part of why I LOVE sportbikes is watching the graceful way pro riders control their bike on the track switching from extreme lean angle left to extreme lean angle right at the drop of a dime.
It should be the last thing on a new riders mind just as a flip turn should be on a new swimmers mind, but we all marvel at the technical aspects of the game.
Okay I know what I'm trying to say here but it's almost time for work to end and riding to begin. so I'm antsy on the keyboard!
