Used Ninja 650R
I have been looking at bikes over the past 4 months and found some good ones today. Went into one of the Kawasaki dealerships in town and saw two used 650Rs. They had a black one with 2800 miles (asking $5500) and a red one with 19k (asking $5000). I told the salesman I was interested but he would have to drop the price atleast $800 on the red 650R before we even considered talking, to which he agreed. The bike was adult owned and has received proper maintenance. My question is this, is 4200 or even 4000 a fair price for this bike? I know sport bikes can last for upwards of 100k miles if properly maintained, but is a bike with that many miles even worth the buy? What would be a better price if not? I may just try and get the black one for more towards $4.5k and go for that. Any feedback would be much appreciated. I am taking the MSF this weekend and hope to find a bike in the next few weeks.
Edit: The Red one is an 07 and the black one is an 08.

I have an 07 ninja I bought from a local guy and got mine for $4k. Perfect condition with a few extras. I wouldnt even consider buying stuff from dealers, they just wanna rip you off. But 19k mines is a little hard on a 07. If it has been properly maintained and the dealer will vouche for it then its probably not such a bad deal. But they can still go lower. I'd offer them 4.3k take it or leave it for the 08. Then you would actually be getting a good deal, which is what you should be looking for.

There is no reason what so ever to buy from a dealer, unless you have no other option or want new.
My used 07 ninja 250 was $2600 at the dealer and when I walked out, it was $3500 will all the fees and the extended warranty that I could have bought through Kawisaki for $100 cheaper(they said I couldn't). I love the bike, but could have saved about $1000 if I had bought it outa the paper or online. I probably could have gotten a better deal if I knew how to haggle better, but it was my first bike and I had no one to ask for advice before I went.
You can get smoking deals from the paper or online. There's always peeps who just buy on a whim and throw mods on it like candy and then get the first bill and go ,"Oh shit!" Time to sell! Or the woman throws a fit when she can't park her car because there's a new bike in the Garage. LOL

I bought my (barely) used '08 650R with 300 miles on it for $4800 - from a dealer no less - so yeah, you should be able to get the black one for under $5K if you push hard enough. Unless they have all the maintenance records I'd stay away from that 19K mile example. I wouldn't pay more than $3500 for it either.

WOW! I thought I got a good deal. I still haven't found a 650R same year, under 1000 miles for less than I got mine. I should be able to ride it a year or two and sell for more than I have left on the loan. I eventually want a bigger bike - either a 'busa/ZX-14 or a big sport tourer - Sprint/Honda ST/FJR/Concours... leaning zx-14 though.

Talked to another dealer. 07 with 1.9k miles and aftermarket exhaust and low profile windshield for $4937 OTD. Sounds like one hell of a deal to me. What do yall think?

I found a NOS '07 on ebay at a dealer in St. Louis for $5400 last fall - but then I found my '08 about an hour away for $4800 with 300 miles on it.
