Default new with no bike

im new to the sport and have no bike...me and a friend are looking we are both new and know we will enjoy riding...we was lookin at the ninja 250 but there is none to be found in good shape...so we have desided to go with gixxer 600's in the late 90's model...have we made a wise desision?

Not really.

600's werent good bikes to start on then and they still arent. Age didnt make them less forgiving.

Since the Ninja 250's are hard to find, check out the older used 250's (ive found a lot in good shape around my area) or perhaps take a look at the Suzuki GS500F. Both great starter bikes as ive been told.

There are 250's/500's/650's that will satisfy both of you.

A 600 is a lot of bike, even the late 90's 600. I think you should look around. I honestly don't believe everyone should start on a 250, but I think a 600SS bike is way to much for a beginner. I believe everyone is different. I started on a 600cc bike, but it's not a supersport and this bike seems quick to me. I keep up with the 600's, 750's, and the 1000's until we get up to about 75 on the highway (and a starter shouldn't be going much faster than that anyway).

The quote "It's funner to ride a fast bike slow than a slow bike fast" is true. My dad owns a 2008 Hayabusa and after he finished riding my bike he said "Gosh this thing is fun to ride, I can wind out the gears and ride". On his bike he can barely turn the throttle without the front wheel popping up.

Are you sure that's what you meant? The example you give is just the opposite.

And for everyone's information - ALL bikes are fun to ride.
