Default disagreement with the manual

I have a 1995 zx7 and i have read the manual and referred to it many times and so far it's been really clear and helpful. except for this friggin part about shifting gears. from what i understand by shifting as shown in the manual the rev will be so low and i'll never get in my powerband. is this a mistake in the manual or have i been shifting at the wrong speed / rpm?

typically i shift at 6 rpm. except for the 1st at around 4rpm. so by the time i shift to the 6th gear i'm at 60 mph. but according to the manual i should shift to the 6th at 34 mph?!?!

hope u guys can straighten this out for me.

Thats just so people don't get themselves killed and try to sue the manufacturer - just ride the shit outta it.

Ignore it and let your bike sing to you when its time to change gears.

Those tables in manuals are typically minimum speeds at which to shift. If you shift up at a speed lower than the table, you'd seriously lug the engine. Downshifting speeds in the table prevent rear wheel hop if you don't match revs well. Do what makes sense to you for the riding conditions you're in.
