Sportbike: Looking for First Bike
Getting a bike in Cali soon. A few questions..
Hey. I'm gonna be moving to Santa Monica, California soon for college and I'm planning on getting a bike there. I've been in Taiwan (not Thailand) for my high school, so I don't have a license or anything..and yeah, I got a few questions.
1. How do I go about getting my license for my bike?
2. Bout how much does insurance cost for it?
3. Do I have to take the safety class to get my license?
xtopolis has it mainly right. If you're under 18, you need your parent's or guardian's permission for the DMV test or MSF course unless you're an emancipated minor. In any case you need to start with the written test at the DMV.

And one more thing... I know lots of the world doesn't think we Americans are the sharpest people out there, but even we know that Taiwan is not Thailand!

And trust me, riding in the states is COMPLETELY different than riding in Taiwan. I emphasize completely.

Any helps appreciated, thanks.
1. You have to take the written test then take the skills test on a bike that you provide. OR take the written test, take the msf class, you don't need a bike to do this. cost is around 170 $
2. Full coverage for my bike is 107 a month with progressive, with one year on the bike clean record, clean record in the car for 3 years. Estimate from there. Keep in mind the SV is quoted lower than most.
