I dragged a peg during the MSF BRC today.
It was the second day during the level 2 drills and my second day ever riding a motorcycle; we were doing the 135 degree corner. First time I went in a little too fast, around 20mph, and wasn't rolling the throttle the whole time through the turn smoothly. I cut back gas mid turn and the bike stood up a bit cuz I guess I got a little scared and wanted to cut off speed to make the turn. Instructor said next time to lean harder and don't let off the throttle, "if you enter fast, you are going to exit fast". Next time I come in a little slower, looked through the turn, leaned, rolled on the throttle, kept leaning, kept rolling on the throttle smoothly, leaned harder to make the turn, BAM, peg was scraping the ground. I didn't know what happened when I heard the sound and I really wasnt trying to lean that far, just trying to push myself.
Instructor was and clapping after I finished the turn.

when I took it there were several people heavy enough to drag hard parts barely leaning at all. I think one guy could almost drag pegs in a straight line.
One of the instructors in my class used to race until he seriously injured his arm in a crash on the street. That arm was basically paralyzed or something. He was very impressive to watch because he would drag pegs and mufflers in every turn.
I didnt drag anything, but I was on a Yamaha XT225.

We use GZs. It's pretty easy to drag a peg. But its still pretty uncommon for a student to do it.

When I was at my msf course, me and another guy both dragged pegs. It was one big competition after that. (we ended up tieing when both of us got perfect scores on the riding test.)

You know a body position adjustment will often alleviate the need to drag a peg. Sure it's a great feeling, but honestly at the speeds you were at, there probably wasn't a reason to actually have the bike that low.
Unless you were the 350+ guy scraping in a straight line

Geez, sounds like they need to start teaching body positioning already! Good job though, I know I couldn't drag my pegs at MSF even if I wanted to.

Yeah, I got a "talking to" from the instructors after I scraped peg twice.
The Honda Rebels we were on sure don't have much ground clearance!

I just wanted to say that I had the EXACT same thing happen to me at my MSF...
They said 2nd @15mph, I went in at 25mph and just leaned over so hard I forgot I was on a cruiser. I scraped and picked it up and ran it wide...I had a perfect score on the other 3 tests and I just got excited about this one and blew it...still passed...
