Default Knee Pads?

Hey all,

I'm new to riding, and I have leather jacket, helmet and gloves and boots, but I don't have pants yet, and won't be able to for a little while, would it be alright to wear knee pads over jeans ill be wearing? They are like skateboarding knee pads but fit really tight. I don't know if that'd be safer or if I'd just look like an idiot and if they'd even do anything.

thanks

I wear ICON leg armor under jeans. It fits well and gives added protection.

I dunno. It might save you a broken knee cap but maybe not. I guess I don't know enough about skateboarding gear to really be informed, but what I imagine are hard plastic shells, almost like a helmet's exterior.

I will say that most CF pading found in motorcycle gear is actualy quite soft and pliable so it protects by absorbing the energy of the impact. Its actually pretty surprising when you first see it. Of course there are gloves and stuff on the market with hard protection over your knuckles, but I have always prefered the more pliable stuff in mutliple layers.

I guess what I would tell you to do is to go buy some good fitting kevlar-mesh overpants. That stuff isn't that expensive and should be good for most on the road applications. I know the racers will tell you that you need leather, but I haven't owned a pair of leather pants since Rob Halford came out of the closet.

Seriously though dude, anything is better than nothing. Knees hit hardest usually, get something at least CE approved.

OK, I see the Leg Armor isn't to expensive, I'll probably go with that, and i found so closeout textile pants I'm probably gunna buy, was under the impression they were much more expensive. Thanks.

I wasn't insulting you - I was helping you hammer home your insult.

The "you" is like soylent green - its "people." Nuance is so hard in email.

you can call them skateboarding, but we know what they are really for...

they wont really do you any good, they will just slide off your leg when you hit the ground.

over 70% of injuries sustained in a motorcycle fall are from the waist down. Buy quality armor to protect yourself

I wear the icon knee armor and was just in a crash on sunday and if not for the pads and riding pants, I`m sure I would`ve had leg issues. the bike was sliding on my leg for a bit.
