The Z750 is not a beginner friendly bike. Maybe the XJ6 is a little better but steer clear of a 750.

Honda CB-1 and GSF400 Bandit?
Both are I4 400cc's, pushing 50hp.
Might not be the best bikes for a total newb to riding.

heh,
the 400 Bandit's are relatively easy to come buy, just kinda pricey.
I have a friend who's willing to sell me his CB-1 (for $1k), and he said he'd only sell it to people he knew. hah.

Im pretty sure the Aprilia RS125 is not street legal in the US. Someone please correct me if im wrong?
Im looking at getting a first bike and its between the Ninja 250R or the Aprilia RS125. If it IS street legal i just might sacrifice some power for extra sexyness...
And plus Megan Fox rode one! lolol... how i envy that bike...

hello
i am a new rider and was looking into getting my first bike the bike i have always loved is the suzuki gsxr750 ever since i was in okinawa, japan i saw it and loved it, but that was about 20yrs ago and now i am 39 and now have the time to take the state course and get me my bike. i have narrowed it down to the kawasaki 250r and the yamaha r6. for being a first time rider and owner if you will, which do you all recommend, which in your best opinion is the best, insurance cost i can work with
other then that i think this site rocks and thanks to all for everything

The difference between a ninja 205 and a r6 is night and day. The ninja 250 for sure.

this is all pretty funny to me...see a friend of mine who has been riding for pretty much all his life (about 30 years) told me i should start out on a litre bike. I told him i wanted to start on a gixxer 600 and he and an ex cop both told me to start on a litre bike...not like i was gonna do it though but i'm not about to get some 250 or 650s or whatever i'll get over it way too fast and thats just me. I took the msf and learned on a cruiser...not enough power...i get that you're lookin out though and respect that i mean there are a lotta dumb people i know that shouldn't even be in a car yet alone get a bike. With respecting of the power of the bike and getting a feel for it as much as possible before you take it out i think some people probably could start out on 1000's and be just fine...O yeah the reason they gave me was that the bike would scare me and i wouldn't become over confident like on a 600...but im not gonna go through the bullshit of havin to trade in when i get over the little ninja 250 in a weeks time period...

They were fucking with you. Trust me. If you really want to start on a gsxr 600 or 750 then please remember your insurance is going to be about $2k a year at age 18 with a CLEAN record. Dont believe me? Get a quote at progressive. And I can garentee you will not "get over" a 650 in a weeks time period. Same goes for the 250.

The CB400 Super Four is basically the same bike as the CB-1, same engine and all...minor differences between them.
I know I LOVED my CB...best bike I've had so far. Tame enough for a rookie to learn on, very comfortable, good ergos, very nimble for city streets and slow traffic, low seat height, the weight is very well distributed (On paper it is very similar to the GS500, but even GS owners have comented on how light it feels compared to a GS500).
But after 7k RPM, the show begins and it's enough to give yourself a big grin on your face, either you have a week or a year riding They are halfway between a 500 twin and a 600 I4 in terms of speed...I know mine used to wax GS500's all day long without any effort.

uh try 1700 a year...i got that i'm not worried...but i'm not gonna go spend money on something that i will be over in two weeks like i said... im sure they were fuckin with me about that shit though but i mean he kinda had a good point about a thousand cc bike scarin you did he not? and again like i said its not like im gonna go do that i'm actually leaning more towards the new cbr 600 rr (2007). I'm a big boy and an extremely quick learner I'm just not worried and its not like im gonna go out, get the bike, and try to start poppin wheelies between cars on the highway...i have a place to learn and the sources for even deeper research on how to do every little thing properly before i take it even close to the highway or somewhat tough backroads. It doesn't matter what kind of bike your riding you aren't surrounded by metal to protect your ass any idiot in a car can pull out infront of anyone on any bike...i actually do know a handfull of people who just went out and bought litre bikes who had never been on one before and do fine.

Why dont you post a new thread and get some more opinions other than my own then. Sure a car can pull out in front of you and can cream you, in fact i had two in the same day do it to me but i knew it was comming. After riding and gaining experience on other bikes i quickly slowed down. Whereas a newbie would have probably grabbed a fist full of front brake and crashed anyways. But if you really come on here seeking true advice then ask everyone else and make a new thread. You will get your answers.
