late??? 15 miles over? I'd hardly consider that late.

My understanding the 250 and 500 Kawis first service is at the 500mile mark so 15 miles wont make a big difference.

Do your own 500 mile service. Paying for the 500 mile service is a joke. Change your oil and filter, and make sure nuts and bolts are not loose.

Don't forget about the recommended valve adjustment. But in all honesty, if you skiped the valve adjustment, I doubt anything would happen. Change your oil + filter and lube your chain and you should be all good to go.

No way this is a real thread.

Does the bike magically know when it goes beyond the 500 mile wall?

The first service is 600 miles on the new 250 instead of 500 (07 and earlier).

+1

Basically all they do is change the oil/filter and lube the chain. The first valve adjustment is at 7,500 miles.

Whups. Thought it was the same with the 250.

I think you may be screwed....you may have to pull the engine and hone the cylinders.......
If they charge you anything under 2000.00 then they are screwing you.

teeheehee... muffler bearings.

But seriously OP, if you bring in your bike at mile 516... or 550 for that 500 mile service, you aren't running much risk. What is bad, is the hard driving on a brand new engine. Sure, you can break in an engine going balls out from the get go, but doing it the way the manufacturer recommends will get you the longest engine life and best engine wear.

Let us know how it goes.
