Talking Just completed the MSF course!

Hey, I'm a new rider/member here. I just successfully completed the MSF course this past weekend. It was SO MUCH FUN and I learned a TON. The instructors were amazing and overall I had a very good time. I took it with two friends and that probably made it that much better. They had a bunch of bikes to choose from like an older Ninja 250, Rebel 250, Nighthawk, Eliminator, etc. I plan on going to the local DMV as soon as possible to get my M endorsement. I should be getting a bike sometime soon, probably before the summer starts.

The gear I had bought performed past my expectations. The first day it was really nice out, about 65 degrees. Second day it was very cold and raining. The jacket I used for the course was a Joe Rocket UFO mesh jacket with a removable lining. The first day the jacket without the lining worked just fine, and I put the lining back in for the second day and I was not cold at all. Great all-round jacket. I know mesh isn't as protective as leather. I only wore the mesh because I thought my leather jacket would be cumbersome to learn in as it is still stiff. I will primarily be wearing my Joe Rocket Honda Factory Racing Rep. jacket. Other gear included an Arai Quantum II helmet (Jungle graphic; very sexy and very comfortable), Joe Rocket Honda licensed gloves (a bit cold during the second day but not bad), Sidi StreetBurner boots (very comfortable to walk in, I even ran to the bathroom once and was fine, and offers good ankle protection). Gear was worn for 11 hours over two days and I have no complaints and was very comfortable.

It's killing me that I don't have a bike right now because I want to get out and ride so badly. I plan on getting the new 2008 Ninja 250R. Everyone says to start used but I wouldn't be caught dead on the older 250s. When comparing the price of the new 250R with a used F4i, most friends say to just get the CBR, which was my original plan. But I think I will become a more confident/better rider faster on the 250. I figure I can just get the Ninja 250R and ride it for a year or two then upgrade to a Triumph Daytona 675 (my dream bike). One of the friends I took the course with is gonna get his dad's old F4i (the bastard is probably out riding right now...) and the other is planning on getting the 250R with me. I guess this will be a perfect example of who will become the better rider faster.

Congrats on passing the course. I love the new look of the 2fiddys. Great choice on a bike.

You will be the better rider sooner. Full stop. You will leave your friend who is starting on an F4i way behind in a couple years, and he will still be figuring out what the bike can do when you have bought your Daytona. Then the difference will really show.

Congrats! Took the MSF a few weeks ago and it sounds like you enjoyed it as much as I did. Like you, I COULD NOT wait to get my license and get on a bike.

Good choice on the 250R. The 08's are great looking.

Good luck!

Man...all of the dealers nearby are all sold out of the new 250R. I called some of them up and they all said the next 6 - 10 of them have already been pre-sold at $4,300 OTD. It's gonna be hard for me to justify spending almost $1,000 over MSRP for a bike. Maybe if a wait a while the hype will die down some

Get a used one. Thrash is for a season, then move up. Simple.
