Finally Did It!
After much lurking and questioning and yearning I finally got a bike! My wife got an 06 Ninjette and I got an 04 GS500f from the same dealership (Road,Track&Trail in Wisconsin is great!) last Saturday. We went for a short parking lot/ neighborhood ride on the first day mine came home (last Saturday), but no serious riding until we get our gear. I bought mine pre-rashed but otherwise it's in pretty good condition. It's got the fender already removed and flush mount turn signals so that was a bonus. The only thing that concerns me is the chain/rear sprocket. I think the sprocket is okay but the chain is rusty. I'm trying to decide whether it needs to be cleaned or replaced but I'll figure it out.
Anyway, I just wanted to announce that I'm no longer a lurker

Good choice on the first bike. Keep the rubber side down.

Not many that I know of. I was looking at buying from Arlington Motorsports but they don't have the selection of RT&T (at least not from their website). Plus, the prices at RT&T are too good. If I would've gotten there and they didn't have the bike I was looking for I knew I would've just bought a different one. As it is, I almost got a Ninja 650 but my wife fell in love with a little Ninjette from there and I didn't want to have a large payment. Still, that place is great and I'll probably buy my next bike from them.
By the way, what did you end up getting from them, ChiTown? Also, have you figured out what to do about the MSF yet?

Cool man.
Hit that chain with a good coat of WD 40 and brush the crap out of it with a grunge brush. Then soak it in chain lube. Shouldn't need to replace it.

I bought a 2000 zx6r from them back in Feb. And I already took the MSF course LAST weekend and have been riding the last 2 warm days we got. But I only got my permit and have been riding with people with their M-Class so its all good. I went to test to do my raod test this morning but the instructor canceled because it was still damp on the ground but was not raining.

Right on, man; that's exactly what I wanted to hear. I'm gonna take care of that tomorrow after class. Now I just need to find a few similar-minded people to ride with. I think I'm gonna fall into the naked/standard bike crowd but we'll see.

I was also looking at that dealer. I can only get something less than 2k and they have an fzr and a seca but probably not when I have the $$$, but hopefully they get something esle.
Anyways how did you bring them home?
If I got it from them I wouldnt know what to do. they ship for 450 but im not paying that much for them to drive to lincolnwood just north of the city. I'd pay 100 max for delivery.

Take the MSF, you'll meet lots of good riders there.
I took it a year ago and I still hang out and ride with one of the guys that I met there. He's 24, owns a GSXR600, and unlike most 24 year old white males who own a GSXR he is a safe rider. Shocking I know. But then again if you meet someone in the MSF they were smart enough to acutally take it, which puts them a step ahead of the rest.

I just noticed, I was looking at that EXACT GS500F(or at least I think it's the same one) when I first got into riding. Was real close to buying it too.

A guy from my job picked it up in his pick-up for me which was cheaper for me because all I had to do was give him like $50 for gas since hes more into motorcycles than me. They load it for you also, and that 450 is not for the tri-state area it would be more like 125-150 for you. O and they constantly get bikes in
