Default Starting to ride a 600 + MSF ?s

Okay, so yesterday I picked up a new 600 gixxer from the dealer since they didn't have any literbikes, and I was wondering how long it will take until I can wheelie. I was also wondering if I could show up at the MSF site and do a massive burnout.

Okay, actually I'm transitioning from my 1990 ex500 to a 1994 zx-6e eventually (I've been waiting 2 weeks for title), and was just checking if anyone has some advice as to how to make the transition smoothly. I've noticed the bike definitely feels heavier, and the engine is much smoother (I'm not a fan of the pulsing of the parallel twin).

I'm also wondering if it would be frowned upon to ride to the MSF course. If would be convenient because I would already have my gear on, and the route to the site is an excellent ride, but I'm afraid I would come across as kind of an asshole by doing so.

btw, does the braking test at the MSF really require full braking? One of the reasons I decided to upgrade to the zx-6e was that I could actually use the front brakes well even with having limited leverage with my right hand. That, and that my ex-500 is going electric so it will be for commuting and short trip use only.

okay, I know it is a really old and somewhat worn out joke, but it doesn't mean you can't reply

i rode to the msf everyday. i guess it depends on your instructor, but since youve been riding a bit, theyd probly go easy on ya.

coincidently, i rode in on a 6r F2.....96 zx6r...whatever you wanna call it. you wont be riding your bike anyway. i think the test was 15mph with 15 feet to stop....maybe 10. but either way, it fairly easy. i was on a nighthawk 250 with crappy brakes and it was no problem. you might find youll have to clamp them on a bit more than the 6.

just becareful when leaving the road course. after a few hours on an inferior machine, it may take ya a minute to adjust to the 6.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it will be okay to ride there them, which is nice because it is a PITA to try and drive with any of my gear on. It will be interesting to ride a more cruiser style bike for once.

btw, do you end up sitting there for the entire time with your helmet on, I like my helmet, but sitting there in a (possible slightly too small) full face for too long would get annoying.

you sit for a bit, maybe 10 minutes while they explain the drill. you cannot take off your helmet while your on the course, or on the bike. its a safety issue and theyll send ya home.
