A squid is NOT a person who has a sport bike and does not take it to the track.

A squid is a person that acts like an idiot on a bike, or buys it just for the image. I have never had my bike on the track, but that does not mean that I'm a squid.

Sounds like your friend is a bike snob. No offense to him or anything. But you can be a "real" rider and not go to the track.

And honestly, you should not take a bike to the track until you have mastered the controls and have enough experience on it to where you are comfortable. Taking a new rider to the track on a 600cc sportbike is not the greatest idea in the world.

Just because he has a little more riding experience than you, it does not mean he's an expert.

In twenty plus years of riding I've never been on a track. Its only been in the last decade or so that track schools started to get popular so I imagine most long time riders are in a similar boat. Definitely not squids...

Personally, I wouldn't hang around with people who put me down.

A squid is a person who just bought a bike and giving advice and calling others a squid. That right there, is a squid. Squids stink!

You're doing nothing wrong, just ride your ride your own way. The track isn't for everyone. Your friend sounds like a ass who thinks he knows more than he really does. Just wait till he wrecks his bike, then you can be the one call him a squid, ha.
