New Rider ForumsJust joining the motorcyclist hobbie? Looking to get some information about a first bike? Or have some newbie questions. Are you new to the website?
My main concern for the 1991 is that it's VERY old. i was 3 years old playing with toy cars when this bike was made. I was only 7 years old when the other bike was made. Please tell me any imminent dangers to my life if i buy and ride these bikes. if they're okay as long as i maintain them somewhat, then threat neturalized. lol.
I have three options right now:
1) 1991 Cbr F2, 8k miles, $2000
2) 1995 Cbr F3, 23k miles, $2000
3) Wait for a better deal/bike.
i might be able to take off a couple hundred for each bike, so the final price for each will be approx. $1800.

I would say go with the F2. It's got less than half the miles and looks to have been kept in better shape. Any parts you would have to buy probably wouldn't be any harder to get than the F3, so you're really not gaining anything by buying the "newer" bike. BTW, "custom" paint is a red flag. Especially since they didn't bother to paint the tank. It's very possible that the bike was dropped and those are either not the original fairings or they've been "fixed" and painted. Plus the F2 is a full exhaust, while the F3 is only the muffler. From the CL posts the seller of the F2 sounds a little more mature, more like someone I'd like to deal with if it were my money. FWIW, my bike's a '93, I bought it in April of last year with 51,000 miles and have put another 16,000 on it. All I've done to it is basic maintenance (oil, chain, tires, filters), no major problems.

There's a saying that goes people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. OK, how about nobody should throw stones. That's just crappy behavior. My policy is: No stone throwing, regardless of housing situation.

If everybody knows how it's gonna end, why doesn't some one stop me?
+1^^^ go with the F2 if you are set on getting one of these...

Ditto to what the folks above have said. Go with the '91 F2. It looks like it's in better shape, and '91 wasn't that long ago. You shouldn't have a problem finding parts if you want to make changes or finding folks to work on it.
Price wise $2K isn't bad. Blue book retail on that bike is $2230 and trade in is $1490 for one in good shape. Given the miles are so low, two grand could be a good deal. You might want to see how long it's been sitting up though. If most of those 8K miles were in the first years of it's life, the tires, battery, plugs, oil, and coolant could be a decade or more old and you'd want to see about having them replaced before you start riding it.
F2, just becouse its old, does not mean its not good. Its still going to be more bike than you can handle.

My main concern for the 1991 is that it's VERY old. i was 3 years old playing with toy cars when this bike was made. I was only 5 years old in kindergarten when the other bike was made. Any one notice his math? At the age of 3 an '91, and then at the age of 5 at '95. How does that work?
