Default 08 Ninja 250R

I've been reading a whole lot of speculation on the new Kawasaki Ninja 250R, based on the performance of the previous model. Does anyone actually own one yet? I'm 6', 200lbs, and I loved my first one, an 89 ex250. I have a lot of highway commute and love the fuel economy, but how well will it run 70 or 75? I'm favoring the more standard seating position yet sporty look, but how well will it do for sustained riding? How about a passenger? I'm a bit more worried that the new one has suffered a decrease in an already weak top-end in favor of 30% more midrange power - is this the case, or is there more power (little as it may be) all the way around?

if you have had a ninja 250 already, you should know if it can do 75mph. i'm pretty sure the weight carry rate of the 250 is some where around 350lbs, so if your passenger isn't bigger than 150lbs or so, you'll remain in the limit. i was able to ride a 250 for hours on end, with the stops needing to be for my comfort and gas... not bike related issues. my viewpoints on the matter...

I have an 07 and its perfectly capable of sustaining 70-75mph for commuting. I've ridden it in town with a passenger and altho it felt kinda silly, it withstood about 400lb with no problem.
I really like the look of the 08, wish I would have waited

perhaps he's hoping that in those 4 different areas he'll get different responses so he can group the information he's given to make himself a better decision.

I guess he could be a "moron", but why not give people the benefit of the doubt before labeling them with some sort of insulting name?

Eh, good point.

I just don't see the point of posting the same thing over and over in numerous different sub-forums.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one, my dealership is getting every color in about two weeks, though the carb isn't going to run in this cold till it gets warmer (where's the FI). I read one guy spent $4700 for his before it even came out, but with taxes and title they've quoted me $3700 here.

The carb will still work fine in this weather.

David,

Seeing as you've got some experience riding, have you considered maybe going for the Ninja 500 instead??

It should still get great gas mileage, but may be a bit better for your commute.

Ehhh yea it will work but a 500 would be nice just because its revs would be lower and especially around city driving. I do find it funny that the 250 fits taller people easier than the 500 though
