New Rider ForumsJust joining the motorcyclist hobbie? Looking to get some information about a first bike? Or have some newbie questions. Are you new to the website?
Waited so long for this, I just about bawled when I got her. Spent 4 hours out riding in 35 degree weather so I could go show it off. It is an 07 with 1000 miles on it, got it for 2600. I also bought full gear, helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, and pants. Now if it only came with boobs it would be perfect
Thanks for all the great advice SBN! Love you guys!

YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!
Posts of virginity lost are always a welcome site... but with pictures???!!!??? you rock!
Now to take some good pictures of all the great roads you'll end up riding with that and keeping a nice folder of write ups with photos Sorry... living vicariously.
Oh.. how big are you? I've been trying to get some friends that are my size (6'2, 220lbs) to go for a ride with their helm cams and show that a 250 can dispel some of they 'myths' surrounding them.

question:
I've heard that ex250's and 500's don't gain anything (either power or torque) from new exhausts since their stock ones are already set up to produce the most out of the engine setup. You guys heard of anything like that?
On ex-500.com, there is the resident mechanic who says that if you buy a 500 with a aftermarket exhaust, insist they give you the stock one too. I've read the same on ninja250.org... just to site my sources ;)
and to sycthe.. I wonder what your perspective is, not right now, but after a few weeks/months of riding the bike. If you end up going out on a high way (65-75mph) i would love to get your opinion on how it does out there with the typical situations people find themselves in while riding around.

I know that a lot of people say it changes where the power is and that it trades smooth power for more of a surge in its ideal power range along with the weight loss.
I will say that compared to a stock 250 the throttle is a lot more abrupt and it seems like you have more low end power. But sometimes if feels like its just flat out lacking

After riding my 250 for a few months, and it not being in the best tip top shape, it does fine on the highway. I can do 70-75 (indicated and confirmed by followers in cars) up hills to my house and it still feels like I have quite a bit of get up and go left.
It is a 13 year old bike with only 3300 miles on it. Works great. . .and gets up and goes for what it's worth. I have nothing to compare it to though and I can only imagine what a 600ss would feel like riding around.
People really do underestimate the power, fun, etc. of the ninja 250.
I'm not sure how much depends on weight (I'm only 155 and 5'7") but it works out great for me to ride around . . . especially with gas prices the way they are. I know people who are 200+ lb. and they love the ninja, just not the size. It gets them around just fine, they just need more room and more bike. Not to BEGIN with, but just in general when they figure out riding.
I'll probably get something in the future, but I'll get through my first riding season with the ninja 250 . . . and then see what's out there when I need to.
Congrats!!!! Prepare to have empty pockets from here on out

congrats man. don't worry about the it not being able to cart you around. my 220lb ass gets around fine on mine. yeah up hills you have to down shift a couple and takes a little more effort, but thats also if your only going 25-35 anyway.
/helment cam idea...i'm tring to get a digital cam corder and make a mount for it. got a lot of nice roads here.
mods....GT501 tires, SV650 shock, dinojet kit, K&N filter, Flushmounts, fender elimin. with rear signals relocated in pods, Two Brother's. Soon to be done, sonic springs
