Default Difference between..?

Is there is big difference between a Ninja 500R and a GS500F? I've been looking at both and the major difference seems to be price tag. Any thoughts?

To me, it seems like the biggest difference is the price. Reviews have rated the 500r better in performance, not by much, and the gs500f received a better rating in visuals. Both seem like great bikes to start off on, and really that's all that matters. Either way you would be happy if you bought one.

The 500r is liquid cooled and has a few more hp, but it's a Kawi.

The gs500 is air/oil cooled, looks better IMO, and is a Suzuki.

Either makes a great starter bike with excellent resale.

Both of them will offer everything a new rider needs; it's up to you which one you want.

Go try them out.

I like the GS500F, it's better looking.

The only difference a new rider will notice is the looks. Even if you ride both bikes to the limits, they are so close to eachother you wont notice it much. So for every day riding they are equal. Get what is more comfortable and what you think looks better.

I'd go with the water cooled one. Seems to me it would have a longer life and perform better.

Actually, the GS500 motor is one of the most durable motors in motorcycling.

Suzuki does air/oil cooled motors very well. The old GSX-R motors were air/oil and were some of the most durable motors ever made.

This would be a general question (or thought). How warm do the new GS500's get that have fairings. We had an older naked one and it didn't seem to get too warm, even in traffic.
