Default Back Protector or Leathers

So I am getting a bonus on the next paycheck. I am looking to get either a back protector or a leather jacket. What piece of gear would you get first? I'm leaning towards the back protector because all I have right now is a foam one. It would be nice to wear something a little more sturdy. Plus its a bit cheaper than the leather. Also I need gear that I can commute in since I'll be moving shortly. I'm thinking an aerostich suit. Are the aerostiches waterproof? I might just save for that actually.

What gear do you currently own, it may help establish which way u need to go.

If you are going to commute you definately need some kind of full, coverall-style, suit. Also, if you don't have a decent size tank bag, this would be a good time to get one.

Ok, so you got basic gear...

I'd get the back protector.

+2 on the back protector. seeing as though you already have the essentials.

My Aerostitch came with a back protector.

It is water resistant not water proof. Given enough time in a pouring rainstorm the water "burns-through" along the seams in about 30 minutes.

i think it'd be better to get the back protector now because you have the basics. also if you get a leather jacket or suit later, it's better to size it with the back protector on.
