New Rider ForumsJust joining the motorcyclist hobbie? Looking to get some information about a first bike? Or have some newbie questions. Are you new to the website?
Well? The only place we have turns here in on interstate on ramps and off ramps it seems. LOL!
Its nothing but straight roads everywhere for miles and miles. Sure 90 degree hard turns can be practiced everywhere but where can you practice the twisties? We have none that I can see..
I have seen some long sweepers but thats about it. I live in Southwest Florida. But it seems there are no turns in this state.
Im serious here. As a newbie how am I to get my turning down. I dont have a track bike or the funds for one anytime soon. So track days wont work right now. Thanks for any help.

Just go down to the beach and hang out with the rest of the "riders".
Don't forget your flip-flops!
Cornering is over-rated anyway. Getting a sweet tan is what its all about.

Am I supposed to list my mods here?
...No, I won't - that's dumb.
The only other things I can suggest are exploring a little more - there have to be some curves somewhere - or else come up and ride with us once a month or so. There are curves up here, and not just the ones on my hips!
There's some decent riding in Florida, but you'll need to get into the ridge area that runs through the middle of the state. Lake and Polk counties have some good roads.
Now don't get me wrong - it's nothing like you'll find if you head up to the mountains, but it's not bad and it's close.
Ride Deal's Gap - 318 curves in 11 miles
Ride Florida - 11 curves in 318 miles

Grew up in Florida. One word. Big parking lots. Find a deserted, clean lot and set up your own track. I recently found a post on some kick ass cones for setting up your own track. Get a bunch of tennis balls and cut them it half with a knife. You get a bunch of cones that are small enough to carry and won't upset the bike if you get into them.

If you're not gonna need to turn while riding in Florida, why do you need to learn how to?

Where, when? I was under the impression you only did track days, didn't know you still ride on the street.
