Default Permit Test

Anyone have any suggestions on what to focus on for taking the temp test? I'm sure that it's probably pretty easy but if anyone has suggestions on what to focus for studying would be great. Thanks again

Get your state's m/c handbook and read it. Their web site may have sample tests on it as well.

Got it and read it. I just remember reading somewhere that like 80% of the test is on 10% of the book. Just wonderin. Thanks

I know there was a permit for cars, but is there the same thing for motorcycles? I keep hearing that here in Texas you have to pretty much have to learn to ride on your own unlicensed off public roads to get your license.

There is a test for a permit, at least here in ohio. Just passed it. Ridiculously easy. A lot of the quetions were pure common sense questions, like what is a stop sign imho. But, you definitely need to read the motorcycle safety book in order to pass.

My understanding about Texas - there is both a written and a riding test. If you've passed an MSF course, you get to skip the riding test. The written was super easy.

Just take the MSF course and once you complete it you get a waiver for your license. Thats how it worked in CO anyways.

I took the MSF course with a wife/husband as coaches for 16 people and they treated me like shit because I was having problems finding the friction zone on their shit bikes (Mini-cruisers aka 40k mile rebel 250 gz250). I was nearly asked to leave after stalling 3 times in the first two exercises. I guess I shouldn't expect less from old Harley trash, but $200 is too much to pay for their shit.

I want to know if there is a permit system for Texas or if I need to haul my 250 around to parking lots and learn tight turns (as I have put 90 breakin miles in my bike already). I think MSF is great and all, but the way it was presented to me was more of a 2 day examination then a learning course.

My father rode 6 years without a license and still had problems with the MSF test. He passed though.

If you had bad luck with company that runs the MSF look for other companies that offer the course. I went through T3RG and it was pretty fun and not treated like a test till you took the test at the end. Everyone passed, even though some would kill themselves in a short period of time without A LOT more practice, thay also replace the bikes every year. Other than that Just practice full lock figure eights and the rest is a breeze.

Most states have a motorycle permit system check the DMV website. For cali you just taken a stupid simple written test and you are legally allowed to ride your bike without a passenger, in the day time and not on freeways. This way you can practice for the skills test. Of course this all can be avoided if you take the MSF because then the skills test is waived.

Im not sure the skills test is anywhere near the difficulty of MSF. Some of my buddies are asked to leave from a driveway then go around the block, make a utrun in the street, and then come back.

Sorry, didnt really answer your question. You can easily pass the written without studying like i said its STUPID simple. Lean into the turns, both the driver and passenger wear a helmet, etc. You can take a practice test on the DMV website just to see how stupid it is.

I'm not worried about the written test....

sigh.

I found out with some research that there is a learner's permit, but a licensed driver has to be able to see you for you to be riding. Dad's licensed, but I'm the only one with a bike. Sucks I can't ride around without him, but it's worth the shot.

That's crazy! are you sure that he has to be able to see you. The only restrictions on a permit in Ohio are: No passengers, must wear helmet, no freeway, no nightime driving
