Default Would this work?

I posted this in the Hyo forum, but I figure it'd get more traffic here.

Been reading about hyosungs for a while now and I was pretty set on a gt250 for my first bike. However I just found this and was thinking that it would make transition easier without having to sell the bike.

http://www.korider.com/forum/modules...ewtopic&t=3940

Apparently the AUS version GT650R's come with a carb slider that restricts it to 35 HP. I wonder if I could just buy those from some Aussies on the cheap and swap them to a gt650 so I could ride it as a noob first bike. Then after a year or so(we have no seasons in florida, so 1 year is really 1 year of full riding) I could just swap in the stock carb and be good to go with a full gt650. Without having to sell the 250 to upgrade ever. Since the frames are the same would'nt it be the same feel/weight?

Sounds like a huge pain in the ass AND it would be unsupported by the dealership or manufacturer.

Take the MSF course, get a Ninja 250, ride it for a few years and sell it for pretty much what you paid for it.

Well, the GT650R doesnt share the exact same frame as the GT250R, but it is very similiar. As for the weight, you'll find the GT650R weights significantly more. Quite a bit more engine there. Some of the folks on Korider.com have gone the restricted GT650R route, and later had their restriction removed, they could better tell you the performance ramifications on the bike. If your sure you want to keep the bike for a while, it sounds like a fairly solid plan..
