Default new bike

I have not ridden a street bike for quite awhile. Bought one from a guy that I don't think would sell me junk. I have put 400 miles on the bike. I would like to know how to get the bike checked out without being ripped off by the shop I take it to. Also I would eventually love to work on it my self. The bike sounds great, but I am not sure how it is supposed to sound. Anyway a lot more I would like to know. So I may post dumb questions for a while. Oh it is a Kat 1100F

www.katriders.com is a good resource. Also get a service manual for the bike. That will show you how to do pretty much everything that will ever need done to it.

As far as not being ripped off by the shop, there really isn't much you can do about that - they charge what they charge. Tell them specifically what you want checked and find out how much it will cost. If you go in there with a 'check my bike out and tell me what's wrong', you're writing a blank check to them.
