New Rider ForumsJust joining the motorcyclist hobbie? Looking to get some information about a first bike? Or have some newbie questions. Are you new to the website?
You can assume all riders are the same but you must realize some are not the same. I understand the err on the side of caution as I wouldn't recommend a bike to anyone without knowing them. But when someone says they are not the type people claim they are its funny when people go off on them saying "You think your special" and "You think your riding your bike to its limits, but your not" etc.
If you're riding a 600SS to it's limits, then your real name is Josh Hayes. If you're not sporting the AMA #1 plate, then you've got some work to do to ride the bike to it's limit.

Question to all those who advocate starting on an SS and 'respecting the power.'
What should you do if you get into a turn too hot?
a. Rear brake.
b. Front brake.
c. Both brakes.
d. Compression brake.
e. More throttle.
f. Coast through.
Until the proper reaction becomes ingrained in your muscular memory, you don't need a fast bike.
You forgot
g: Panic, stand the bike up, grab a handful of front and rear brake and crash. Then make up a story about how you were doing 120 in a curve that was marked 20 and 'lost it' (even though it was really about 45 in a curve marked 50).

Fixed that for ya (see bold)!

Who's more closedminded, those who adhere to the advice coming from vetera riders, with a proven track record and pass that advice along, or the fool who outright rejects it "'cause image is more important!"?
Who is more shallow, the rider who rides his 250 into the ground building and honing skill and really learning to RIDE, or the poser who want's to look cool on bike night?

Those are just examples of things some experienced riders say to newbs for no reason just to make them look dumb.
I dont even ride my bike to MY limits which is no where near the bikes limits.I can say I will never see the bikes limit.

Not true. We say that to people who use the excuse "I'll outgrow it in six months" when told they should start on something small. If they look dumb, it's because they made themselves look that way. They needed no help from us.

How about look through the turn, press on the inside grip, maybe roll off a teeny tiny amount of power and pray the bike doesn't lowside. When you pop out the other side, think to yourself, "Well fuck, I made it through at that speed. I wonder if I can go 2 mph faster?" That's what I do, anyway.

Oh, we could answer? I thought it was a test for noobs (so we can make them look dumb ) or a rhetorical question.
Because my answer was going to be, lock up the rear brake to start the slide, then clutch up the tire to start spinning, then slide it through the turn while smoking the tire

Don't listen to this guy. He once crashed his bike while checking out a hottie.
