Default Noob needs suggestions on....

So I'm a total noob to riding and sportbikes. I should be getting a permit within the next 2 weeks. Then I'll register for the msf and also try walking in. Then I plan to pick up a Hyosung 250R and practice in the parking lot until I feel super comfy with braking and shifting and whatnot.

Do I need to buy and bring my own gear to the msf class or do they provide it?

Speaking of gear I'm looking for suggestions on what are decent brands of helmets & jackets that I should look for.

Also I'm getting the bike primarily to commute to work and was wondering if I could ride in work boots. Is super necessary to wear/have riding boots?

Any insight and suggestions are highly appreciated. Cheers

Check with the class. In IL, you had to bring a long sleeved shirt, long pants, shoes that come up past your ankles, and gloves. Oh, and glasses. You did not need to bring a helmet.

(Note: Common sense and BRC training speaking, not experience) Work boots are better than gym shoes or (Heaven forbid) sandals. They settled for hiking boots when I took the BRC. Still, prevailing wisdom on the board is that $230 racing boots are going to offer the best protection.
