Your profile says you already have an 06 GSXR 600.

Size has little to do with the bike you choose unless you're freakishly large or small.

Ninja 250, GS 500, Ninja 500 would be good choices.

Do not listen to this advice.

Get a 250, some gear, some insurance, and take the MSF.

you'll get the same response probably...try the 250 or the 500s. Then try sitting on them. you say $4k, think $3k, and spend the last $1k on gear and registration (if you buy used) and insurance.

Busas aren't even sportbikes.

They're sport touring bikes. Fat pig of a bike. They're fast in a straight line, but just about any other sportbike on the road will destroy one on any kind of twisted road.

I started on an 04 gs500f. It was a sweet beginner bike and real forgiving. Its got a real smooth power band that won't scare you or freak you out. Also remember to buy used.

They're not that bad, actually. They handle pretty well for their size. I have a buddy that rides one, and he can keep up with me on twisty roads.

They are GREAT bikes for touring, though. I've been thinking about picking one up for it.

If only it said "Triumph" on the side, though.
