Bike looks good and has a cheap price, but it has kinda high mileage and a few mods done to it. Is 30k miles too much for a 90? How does it look?

I would keep looking, it has been down and it still is alot of bike for a first bike. Look around for a mid to late 90's ninja 250/500 if it's going to be your first bike.

Looks a little rough, about what you expect for a 17 year old bike thats lived outside some of it's life. Mileage is high but if it's been well maintained it could still be good for quite a few more miles. As it's been stated above even older i-4 600s are far from ideal starter bikes (probably still has 80 - 90 Hp). It would be a good beater-commuter for the mechanically apt if the owner was willing to dicker a bit on price. If I were you I'd keep looking, no need to rush into a first bike purchase.

Found another good deal on a 1991 FZR 600. I know it's not the greatest starter bike, but if I find a bike at a great price, I won't turn it down.

Have to sell my little Yam to pay some bills. Bike starts easily, runs real crisp and tight with no smoke or funny engine noises. No oil or coolant leaks. A little rough around the edges, BUT only 7000 miles. Yoshimura Pipe. New Battery, seat and grips. Steel Braid vent intake tubes. Bullet style turn signals. Carbon Fiber rear fender eliminator. I also have 2 Helmets to go in the deal. Just had the oil and filter changed last weekend. Tyres have tread but will need to be replaced as the side walls have little cracks. Registered with clear Title.

Average wear and tear for a bike that old is expected. I'm going to check out the bike this weekend. If it's mechanically sound, should I buy it?
