New Rider ForumsJust joining the motorcyclist hobbie? Looking to get some information about a first bike? Or have some newbie questions. Are you new to the website?
Just found a excellent spot to practice my motorcycle riding at! It's an area that's about 1.5 blocks away from my apartment and it's like a newbie's paradise.
There's a good size parking lot (actually 3 of them) that's pretty empty where you can practice emergency breaking, swerving, etc... without disrupting what little traffic that goes by there. It's all newly paved as are the roads there (and it's clean!).
There's also a 3 block stretch of road with no stop signs and a 40 mph limit that helps you get used to higher peeds (which is helpful if you've never touched a motorcycle before). To each side there's stop signs so you can practice riding and following road signs, left/right turns, etc... (neighborhood riding stuff).
Amazingly here's a rail road track at the far end of the area (but still close) so you can get a feeling on what it feels like to ride over train tracks.
You can mess up without having to worry about people coming to make fun of you because:
1) it's mostly richer, older people who have better thinks to do than clown on you.
2) It's nestled close to an industrial area and the only people around there are employees (and that's on weekdays).
Finally, there's a Starbucks, Subway, and other places to relax after practicing. I'll see if I can get some picture out to show you guys what I mean. Now all I have to do is wait until the rain stops so I can ride.
Secret places are great...This one on the right is a make do track (seven turns, one mile long) I've been riding for years...It's in the middle of no where, but all the roads are paved...

Is that were they had planned a development of some sort and ended up not building?

Man, l8 braker, that's an awesome find and a good layout. Definitely gives someone a chance to practice braking, turning and stability. Wish there was more around me, but it's just crap or canyons.
