Default RZ350 legal in CA

Thinking of buying a RZ350, does anyone know if it's legal in CA? Or how I can find out?

A true classic.

I know it's a 2-smoker. Was going to be my very first street bike back in the day. First bike to have factory installed cats, iirc.
Was it a 49 state or a 50 state bike? I don't remember.

I know Cali is strick about emissions, but I don't know if they test for this on such an old bike.
If they do, make sure you've got a set of original pipes with working cats. Good luck with that.

It is perfectly legal where I live, but there's no emissions testing on bikes here. Yet...

I'm still looking in to this...

Apparently, you might have to obtain an '85 'NC' or 'NC2' California model that had a 3rd? cat.

Now I'm really curious.

Hey All,

Thanks so much for helping a pre-newbie out. It is sincerely appreciated. I ride MX and if you follow that sport, 4 strokes are becoming all the rage, kinda like what happened in the 80's for sport bikes it sounds like. Anyhow, I'm a die hard 2 stroke guy for MX and I thought it'd be fun to ride a 2 stroke on the street -- in CA!

If i get the bike, I'll report back with how it all ends.

The Banshee uses the same motor.

I've always wanted an RZ350. Now, thanks to this thread I'm really curious about getting one again.

I located one near me thats practically stock and in like new condition.
But it's white and red and I'd prefer the yellow and black KR special.
Hard to find one this nice anymore.

I'm told by the owner that this one doesn't meet CA emissions. Sorry.

BTW- Welcome to SBN psalm3124!
