Default insurance on bike

I was just wondering, is it really necessary to have insurance ??

I might buy a bike but i will only ride it around the block.

Im aware of the fact that i will have to pay for damages if i crash it, but is DMV or anybody else gonna bitch at me about not having insurance ?

In TX you cant register a bike without insurance...but the DPS care because they dont know for sure if you have a bike or not

This doesn't sound good. Why buy a bike and only ride it around the block? That won't last. In most states you need to register a bike to ride it on the street. If you get caught riding it on the street without registration, you're screwed. You usually need insurance (at least minimal liability) to register the bike. If you can't afford insurance, how are you going to pay for damages?

Why not get a dirt bike and find a safe place to ride it? No registration, no insurance, but still a potential for damaging other peoples' stuff.

In my state you will have to pay a huge fine and may loose your license.

Do the right thing, don't try to rationalize.
