joshua's law and MSF [GA]
i don't know who is familiar with Joshua's Law [i dont know if it is state or nationwide].
basically what it is is that you can't get your driver's license until you're 17, and that also means your M endorsement [i think].
however, you can have your class CP [drivers permit] and have the M endorsement.
you can get your license if you take an approved class or drivers ed, and i was curious if that included the MSF, so that i could get my endorsement before october.
i know, i'm extremely young, but i have my heart set on this, i've been researching it for years [literally], and i'm just excited that it is coming closer.

Driver's licensing is entirely a state organized requirement. The rules are state-specific.

Georgia residents must be at least 16 years old to apply for a Class M motorcycle license with the Department of Driver Services. All motor-driven vehicles (excluding tractors and mopeds) that are designed to operate on three wheels or less are considered motorcycles. Mopeds have a separate set of rules, specified below.
Instruction permits are valid for six months, and you need only pass the written portion of the test to get one. This $10 permit is not required before obtaining the Class M license, when the driving test will be given. These instructional permits carry the following restrictions:
Minimum age of 16, and parental consent if under 18 Daylight driving hours only No passengers No limited-access highways Must use safety equipment required by law You must furnish the motorcycle for the skills portion of the test, and it must pass a safety inspection before the skills exam will be given. You can study for the written portion of the test using the motorcycle manual available online or at your local driver's license office.
A Class M license costs $20 for a five-year license and $35 for a 10-year license. If this is your first license, you'll need to bring along the same documentation required for applying for a regular license when you apply.

Laws are changing so frequently these days I'd double check that info with your DMV

well that's cool.
that means i can sign up for the MSF [taking with my 22year old brother] anytime now.
i'm still going to wait until i have like $2000, i don't want to get my endorsement and not be able to have even a beater for a while.
although, i did see a Lifan dual sport 200cc for $800, which i could buy in cash..
blah, i'm getting ahead of myself.
thanks for the info!

i think i should just get the permit, and since i'll be 17 before the 90 day time limit on the completion card from MSF expries, just get the M license then

It would be wiser to drive on the streets to find out how people really drive vs. the way drivers ed says they are supposed to drive. You dont have to get out on public roads on a MC so soon. You have plenty of years ahead to do that. Master car driving first then use that experience to add to MC riding. Thats the best way to survive.
