You'll be fine. I am going to enroll and take the 3 day course again so I can re-new my expired license. Last time I took it was in 1996.

Well, tonight was the first night of class. I must say that it was very boring..........although, never riding before I learned ALOT! Tommorow should be better, because we actually start riding!
We started off in the classroom (reason being because it was VERY cold and raining this morning) and finished up the MSF book and videos. After that, we took our written test. (I missed one question)....We then broke for lunch and met back up on the range still pouring to rain.
They told us to choose our bike for the next 2 days, and I chose a new Honda Nighthawk. I must say that I was very nervous at first when we started out. After a few practices and warm ups, we got into some steady riding and turning. From there we moved on to weaving and sudden stopping. By the end of the day today, I was ready for more, and was loving it and feeling so much more comfortable on the bike. All the nerves and shakes went away after about an hour and it was just plain fun.
Tommorow is the last day of class, and I honestly cannot wait to get out there and learn more!
Hum... my MSF starts out tomorrow, kinda think you might have been lucky for doing the learning in the rain... what do you think? think it'll help you later? (i mean learning in the rain in a closed course training situation and not on your own, on the street...)

Yes, it was very helpful learning to maneuver on wet ground. The instructor told us that no matter what, everyone will one day get caught in the rain, so it was good that we had to learn in it to begin with.
Today was the 3rd and final day. We got to open the bikes up a little bit more, which I have come to realize that the faster I am going, the easier it is to handle. Especially in the "lean". I also have come to see that I HAVE to trust the bike to do what I want it to do. I really enjoy the "swerving" and the "weaving" through cones, that is where I had fun the most on the riding range.
All day today was riding and nothing else. We drilled for approx. 4 1/2 hours, then took a lunch break. After lunch, the instructors set up the Skills Evaluation drills. We practiced everything that would be on the test for about a half an hour or so. After that, it was time to take the skills test.
I ended up passing the test with 3 points against me. I got the 3 points on the figure eight box turn. I went about an inch outside the line on the final turn, which cost me 3 points. I aced everything else.
I feel have alot more confidence now, from starting off NEVER riding before, to getting on a bike nervous as could be yesterday morning, to the end of the day today when I wished I had a bike already lol. I am very glad that I took the MSF course, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get into riding!

i learned to ride the track in a mist then rain. that was a wonderful experience.
i have never taken the class, i think i might someday and pretend to be a new rider.

When I took my MSF class in 96, it was a hot sunny day in the summer. When I got my first bike, I rode it in the rain to get used to the bike and learning how it handled in wet weather.

Well, just completed my MSF, one q missed and one time outside the box (on right turn u)
Haha, kinda funny, looks like when i asked you about the rain stuff, i cursed myself to rain, the entire 2nd and 3rd day it was raining, pretty funny, i agree that it helped me get used to the less traction. Had the back wheel lock about 3 or 4 times in the drills for quick stops, but i think that comes from the dirt experience, used to using the back more then the front. Also had the back wheel break loose once due to wet... (was weird, was in second and turning at about 20 ish and i was rolling the throttle and it just felt a little slip, crazy) fun times all and all. I must agree all and all, EVERYONE MUST TAKE THIS COURSE!!! NO IF'S AND OR BUTT CHEEX ABOUT IT!!!
