Becoming an MSF instructor
Anyone here an MSF instructor?
How did you become one, how do you like it now?
I want to do this, but IIRC you have to be licensed to ride for at least three years. I'm almost there.

That's funny. I don't mean to post links from another forum, but a local instructor just posted up a job application for motorcycle instructors. I believe the requirements for USA and Canada are practically the same. So you'd have to be licensed for 3 years to qualify and must attain licensure as an instructor. Here's the link if the forum gods will allow.

There is a ton of mythology surrounding the MSF, however each state runs its own program (msf contracts to manage a few) and each state is unique. The MSF merely provides the curriculum and certifies ranges for compliance.
Every state is different. So anything I'd tell you might not apply to your state.
It's very gratifying to teach and to watch rank newcomers become basic riders in short order. I'm certain we save some lives too.
In you're case, I'd call Dave Hepburn at Apex Cycle Education. He's a good guy and can give you the skinny on Virginia.
