Default did my first day at the range of my BRC (advice needed)

Hey everyone, I attended day 2 of my MSF basic rider course (first day actually riding bikes), and it was a fun experience. I felt natural and did well on almost all of the exercises, but I had a little bit of trouble with the weave. I had no problems with the wide cones spread apart, but the ones closer together gave me a bit of a problem.. I had to skip a few cones because I was out too wide and some of them I just couldn't seem to turn/lean the bike fast enough. The rider coaches said to keep your focus straight ahead since the cones were close together and could be seen in peripheral view, but I think I was doing that as far as I could tell. Does anybody have any advice on what I could do to get better at this particular maneuver?

I just did my first day of riding for the BRC today as well.

Our rider coaches said the difference between the two exercises (far apart and closer together/offset) is for the close ones you use counter-weight (turning the handlebars) instead of counter steering (press in direction you wanna go).

Also to use the clutch to control speed since you have to go a bit slower.

I did pretty ok on that...my BIGGEST problem is taking off in first gear I stalled like crazy during the second half of the day. My left hand was cramping up.

I hope I didn't confuse you too bad because I am a noob also. Good luck on completing the course tomorrow!

Yea watch for target fixation and use a lot counter weighting/steering...and those tight cones are easy.....

U will do fine....

Its too easy, IMO...the Box was the only thing all people in my group struggled with, I never thought it was tough after the first run through...

They were so close together though, you weren't supposed to turn your head.

Anyway, it was a lot easier today, I don't really know what I did differently. Everybody in my group was sort of on-and-off in the box while practicing but aced it on the evaluation. Our rider coach said it was unusual for everyone to do so well in that exercise. We all passed the evaluation and got our temporary license card and DMV endorsement. Now all I need is a bike..

Congratulations! I passed my course as well. I will be getting my license tomorrow and Ninja 500 next weekend. Maybe we'll see each other on the road someday since we're in MD/VA area. Stay safe out there...I plan too
