Default How long is the certificate good for?

It just occurred to me that I took the MSF course in 11/05. Well over a year ago now. I'm looking at going to get my motorcycle permit on Wednesday of next week at lunch time.

Anyone know how long the beginner class certificate is good for? I don't mind taking the class over to avoid taking the test for the license, however I'd rather not if I don't have to.

Anyone know?

in Massachusetts you have a limited amount of time (60 days?) until the "certificate of completion" expires. This means in MA, you would need to take the course again to get your motorcycle endorsement with no further testing. The fact that you took the BRC and passed though, that's good forever.

Your state may have different rules.

Call the local DMV to check. And then call back to check their answer

Yea, I enjoyed the BRC. I've had multiple dirtbikes so the "feel" of riding was pretty familiar, however the low speed stuff was VERY educational, and made me feel a ton more confident.

I've since ridden a buddies cruiser a few times so I still don't feel "rusty" although with that said, I'm definately going to do the Parking lot->neighborhood->streets route until I get a good feel for whatever bike I end up with.

Thanks for the tips, I'll see what they say on Wednesday.

*edit*

The instructors at the BRC said that if you can ride your bike to class you are ready for the ERC. Is that true? or should I wait and get a few thousand miles under my belt before I go sign up for one of those?

it's up to you.
the new ERC is essentially a BRC done on your own bike.

in my opinion, it would be better to ride a year or so, then use the ERC as a refresher. but, like they say. YMMV
