Default MSF advanced riders course?

i just finished the MSF today, passed it only messed up on the braking and i let off the accelerator coming outta the last turn..

so whats the advanced riders course? what are the differences and what does it teach you? i know you have to bring your own bike but im wondering what it builds on from the BRC?

any input would be appreciated thanks!

you do a lot of the same exercises on your own bike.
just building on skills.

get a season of riding behind you and then sign up (if you want).
a track day will also help build skills.

ERC is just extension of BRC. You don't really learn anything new, you just do "harder" weaves, cones, cornering and braking.

We did the ERC 2 weekends ago. For the most part, it was drudgery. We were expecting a bit more from the class (though we did come away with more than we went into it) and the instructors were very umm, unprofessional - this is what really soured our experience. You'll want to push yourself in that class so you can see how much your bike can take. I think that is what we most got out of it.

+1 on getting a seasons worth or riding before you take it. Every drill we did was a simulation of a scenario that we had already expperienced in the real world. So it was nice to be familiar with the lesson they wanted to teach.

It gives you a location to push your bike harder than you might on the street. A good instructor will see where your skills are weak and help you improve them.

I was going to sign up for the BRC, but since I have been riding for a while they told me to skip that and take the advanced course. It was pretty basic stuff, but I do think it would be very benificial to new(1-2 season) riders. The instructors were very professional and willing to share their knowledge.

Not a bad price down there. ERC is usually around $150 for less than 10 hours of total instruction near Boston.

I assume it's like this everywhere, not just CA, but there is a mileage requirement, like 3000 miles. Don't know how they verify this

And you use your own bike.

A co-worker took it here in San Diego. Said it wasn't anything new, just reinforcement. He has been riding for approx 15 years, only Goldwings. He said most folks in the class were older (50+) and had large cruisers, too. He was very positive about it, said it was a great experience.
