Default Music

This site seems dominated by metal heads. Is there anyone here who likes music besides metal? I'm not trying to offend, just trying to expand my tastes, and try as I have I just cannot enjoy metallica, pantera, or the highly recommended tool.

My favorite groups and artists are:

The Police
Blue Oyster Cult (Pre-metal days)
Beatles
ZZtop
Journey
India Arie
BB King

Creedence Clearwater Revival, Foreigner, Radiohead and Pearl Jam are pretty good too. Old rap is good but the new stuff all seems lame.

Edit: Forgot to mention I also listen to Jerry Lee Lewis and Sam Cooke a lot...and I'm a little bit embarrassed to admit - Elvis is good once in a while too.

Try John Mayer, Gov't Mule, and Joe Bonamassa.
You may find a bunch there you like.

Specifically, Gravity by JM, Soulshine by GM, and If Heartaches were Nickels by JB.

Let me know what you think.

I'll listen to almost anything except country, and most new music from the past 5 or so years. By that I mean the shitty new rap, krump or whatever you call it. Screamo and other whiny alterna-rock sucks. I've been getting into more classic rock in the past couple years, yearning for those days when musicians were musicians and not just pissed off 13 year olds with more make-up than their teenie-bopper girl fans. Other than that, hip-hop, old-school rap, metal, various electronic genres, classical, disco, 80's, and jazz are all good in my book.

Oh, and if I have to listen to one more female power-vocalist I'm going to scream. They pipe that shit into my work all day long and I'm ready to kill someone.

I really like almost all music. Country is the only thing I really cant stand. I'm still a huge Green Day and Nas fan. One of the best cds I've listened to in a while is the first Gnarls Barkley cd. I have listened to the second one enough yet. I'm bumpin Lil Wayne the Carter III in my car right now. Last week it was Panic at the Disco.

I actually like Paramore and dirty little rabbits. Two of the first "rock/indie" wtfe bands with a female singer that I really like.

USELESS NAME DROP! I went to middle school and high school with Andy Hurley, the drummer from Fall Out Boy. No, that doesn't make me cool or interesting. Its just kind of neat seeing someone from my small town become so famous. First time I realized it they were on stage getting the MTV Best New Artist award. Very wierd to see.

Also check out producer Mark Ronson's cd. It has everything from a remix of toxic(by britney spears) that features Ghostface Killa to a full on band with no words. It's an awesome cd.

If you like Paramore check out Daybreak drive. They actually live pretty much down the street from each other. Personally I thought Daybreak Drive was better when they were Falling For Yesterday, but they're still good.

Is it still set to release on the 15th or what? What cd's of his arent classics? The only two that might not be his best are I Am and Nastradamus. Those were the first two cds of his I owned so I still think they are awesome. I think Illmatic, Stillmatic, and God's Son are his best by far.

Sublime and Queen are the two best bands of all time.
