Default National Treasure 2 ~ Book of Secrets

Anyone seen this trailer yet for National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets??

I think its going to be leaps and bounds better than the first one, the rare "sequel is better" syndrome.

Awesome storyline and an absurd cast- Ed Harris, Jon Voight, Harvey Keitel!

Then let me pose this to you....

The original was a story where the family had endured countless ridicules and constant negativity when they felt that they knew a secret that had to do with the biggest treasure in history.... which was coveted by the nations founders. Most of the story was well written and somewhat believable to a very small fantasy perspective.

Now... they have something else? Is there some other family secret? One where somehow his family (which just regained their proper name) is now slammed again with the notion that they were behind the first presidential assasination? Now he has to go through all these super secret hidden nationaly coverup'd things to clear his family name?

I think... that the story covered the first movie perfectly and could not have contained or continued with the same characters into a sequal. The only reason the sequal is being produced is by the sheer hope that the star power will pull past the lack of original ideas or proper storylines.

I loved the first movie.... but highly doubt the second will do as well. This is of course just my opinion.... but meh, whatever. :-)

Damn, that does look pretty good. Too bad Nicolas Cage is still in it.

You start out motorcycling with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.

My girlfriend and I actually got to watch them shoot some scenes in the streets of London mid July.

Too bad Nick Cage is in it though. That guy is a horrible actor.

I gotta say, Nick Cage doesn't bother me that much. Guess I like his aura.

Yeah- the first one is great lazy Sunday afternoon viewing. Very intrigued that Hellen Mirren is in Book of Secrets, clearly she's a wonderful actress, really like her giving this sequel credibility. The story looks awesome too.

Looks like it will be entertaining...like the first. I learned long ago, that if you stop trying to view movies as 'believable' and just try to enjoy them for the sake of enjoying them..then they 'get better'.

just my 2 cents

Chris

That and a $1.50 will get me a cup of coffee..if I don't go to Starbucks

Haha! I hear you! The great part about 'Book of Secrets' is there will be some believable historical aspects to the film which will def. have me doing some research afterwards on John Wilkes Booth, family lineage, etc. which makes the filmeven more entertatining IMHO.

I enjoy wondering if specific aspects of a film were true and then verifying them post viewing, instead of just walking out of a movie saying "that was fun but 100% bullsh*t" and never thinking about it again.

Yup. I thought it was pretty entertaining. Both of the National Treasure films, in my opinion, were fun movies to watch.

Did I come away with a new profound understanding of history? No. Did I like them? Yes.

****************SPOILER****************

I thought this movie was terrible. There were so many ??????? moments. The last scene where they are about to drown and they have to get past the block, after the door closed and the turn to leave it is a corridor that leads to the lake and you can see sunight. If it was like that then the corridor would never have flooded and they would have been just fine. There were a few others that I cant remember but when I walked out of the theater I was just like "Wow"

I can usually look past things like that but this movie had a lot of them.

FURTHER SPOILER!

And the President telling Ben he couldn't tell anyone why they were together in the tunnel and then the only excuse he comes up with is "the door accidentally shut and he showed me the way out" crap was just a cop out because the screenwriters felt like throwing in a subplot just for the hell of it.
