It's times like these where I wish I was more like my sister, who has always been able to write very well. I saw this movie last night and there are so many things that impressed me about it, but I can't organize those thoughts into much more than "wow, awesome, sweet, god damn"
First of all, the movie is highly political (which I'm surprised I liked it so much, I hate politics and everything about them), but not necessarily in a current state of the world sort of way. The movie is set in 2025 (I believe) in England where because of some deadly disease an ultra-coservative party (more like a dictator) took over and cut the country off from the rest of the world, imposed a curfew on their citizens, and given them only one TV station to watch.
The rest of the movie is about the slow uprising of the citizens lead by a masked, cape-wearing, knife-weilding, karate-dealing character known only as "V". I won't say much more than that because it's very well done and well planned how the "V" character snaps the citizens out of their trance and instills a little hope.
Natalie Portman is the main-woman in the movie and she does an incredible job. The acting in the movie is all around excellent, and the story and dialouge rounds out an impressive film. Not to mention she's about the most adorable person in the world, even with her hair cut like mine. I think I'd marry her used socks if I had the chance.
I honestly can't remember the last time I was at the movies and my eyes were wide open with intense focus and amazement, there was just something about this extremely well put together movie that had me enthralled the whole time.
If you're going to the movie just looking for pure-action, you'll probably be disapointed. There isn't enough crazy fight scenes to pass the time if all your interested in is drop kicks and spurting blood. The last fight scene is nothing short of amazing, though.
Very excellent movie, I can honestly say that it would be very very high in my top 10 movies of all time.

You did an excellent job! I wasn't sure about this movie but after reading what you wrote I have admit to being curious. I think I'd like to see what it's all about now!!

He probably meant GOOD comic book movies ;) Don't forget hulk, van helsing, sin city (actually good), ultra violet, fantastic four, and probably 15 others that I can't remember ;)
It was awesome, best I've seen in a long time. They need to make more comic book movies.
No, they need to make more GOOD comic book movies. Some things should NOT be made into movies.... there's just certain comics that would suck if made into movies, and some directors should be killed for their work.... like daredevil and the hulk.... so sad that they sucked.
But Sin City was incredible. X-men wasnt bad, and spider-man was good except for leaving out the web shooters...
Alan Moore (who wrote V for vendetta) also wrote a comic called Watchmen. It would make a FANTASTIC movie.

Yes, Watchmen is one of the best. Constantine wasn't a bad movie either, I think all the Vertigo ones have turned out well. I did mean good ones, the kiddie comics don't really count for me, though the Spider Man movies were pretty darn good and the last Batman was really good. They should just make Frank Miller's (of Sin City) Dark Knight Returns and be done with it.

Yeah, dark knight returns is sweet. also- that run that he did a while ago with daredevil would be good. i forget the name, i read so many.
Pretty much any Frank Miller stuff would be good.
I'm waiting for the batman/daredevil crossover where they fight scarecorw/bullseye to be made into a movie. One of my favorite comics of all time.
And hozhead- the daredevil movie wasnt as bad as elektra, but it wasnt good, either. ESPECIALLY if you've ever read any daredevil comics. it was just poorly written.

I thought Hugo Weaving was outstanding in this movie, even though you don't see his face through the entier thing. I thought V was one of the best movies I have seen in awhile.
