Default king kong

While I have never seen the origional, i would stake my life to say it wasn't 3 hours and 7 minutes long. Overall, I thought it was a good movie, but there were some issues I really had with it.

Without a spoiler, I'll kinda give my rundown

It was too long w/too much fluff. I think we could've lived w/o Jimmy too as I didn't feel he was integrel part of the story. The beginning dragged on way toooooooooooooo long. Did I mention the beginning was long? Well, it was by about an hour. The love affair between the writer and Ann Darrow was amusing and a little under developed. That would've been a bit more interesting. WHEN Kong finally gets to show up in the pic, it is pretty good. The action scenes were really really good, but the parts with him sitting there swinging his arm around, I kinda felt it was very robotic looking. I dunno, he was pretty good overall too.

I hated the ending. By that time, I had developed feelings for the poor guy and knew he was going to end up dying and once again, the human race is hell bent on destroying something that could've been left alone to do as he had always done where he had done it (wow, what a run on sentence). It is never good when you develope feelings for a character you know is going to die. I cried at the end and was glad I had not seen the origional.

Then there were the bi-planes. You know, as roadracers, people tell us all the time, we are crazy. Hell, we are geared up, but it occured to me while I was sitting there in the theater, we are nothing compared to the guys that flew around in those things in real life. They had little leather helmets and goggles and were zipping around shooting bullets at each other. Yeah, and we are the crazy ones...sorry back on topic.

Overall, it was a good movie. I don't think sitting in the theater for over 3 hours is a good thing though. I also don't think parents should bring a child still in an infant carrier to the movies either, but that is a nother story. I would recommend seeing this one, if only for the visual effects.
