Default King Kong

Just got back from watching this.

All I can say is that I highly recommend it.

Any of you other SBNers watch it?

It kinda reminded me of the Spiderman series in that the director cast the main characters with actors normally associated with dramatic roles rather than action movies. The other thing that I liked was that there really were no "good" or "bad" guys that the director expected us to cheer and boo. Just as in real life the characters seemed to be driven by rational motivations, like greed or love or self-preservation, rather than simply being all good and all bad. I guess this kind of movie direction is more invovling to me because, just as in the real world, there is a bit of good and bad in all of us.

I also liked that the Anne character returned Kong's affection instead of being a shrieking lady-doll as was the case in the other Kong movies. In this version, the leading lady actually does lead in contrast to the older films where Kong had to carry the whole movie and Anne was just a victim that needed rescuing.

I saw it friday night, very good flick. The action scenes on the island were amazing, I almost couldn't take them anymore. It was just that intense.

Naomi Watts has the best doe-eyes look in the business, she's is one pretty lady. Kick ass movie, and I'm even a movie snob
