Default I learned something today.

If I want to start doing hare scrambles next year, I really need to work on my stamina. After 2 hours of riding today, my legs are soreish. lol.

The good news is I'm getting more comfy on the bike. I kinda like hitting natural terrain jumps now. There's one spot at the local riding area that you can hit wide open and catch some good air. I'm only hitting it in 3rd and 4th, but still. Today was only my 4th time out riding.

Sucks ass I had to ride alone though. Which is part of why I was only out 2 hours. I started getting ballsy with somethings so I figured I should go home before I got hurt.

+1 on the mountain biking. What I found that worked is Dirt Jumping on a 26" mountain bike. You get to hit big jumps and work on that. Plus you get the stamina to do XC.

Man I race XC exclusively. It's really hard and demanding especially the mountainous courses around here. This is my thing with harescrambles. I hate them about 2 laps in and then when I get done, I realize it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. Just make sure to finish. Do whatever it takes man.

I got a work out program from a coworker who's a health nut. It focuses on core strength, so at least I'll have that going for me.

Went out today to another spot, full of sand, and rode my ass off for a good bit. Once again, my buddy bailed on me leaving me to myself. Prolly a good thing cause he hates the sand and does nothing but bitch when we are there.

Do the knee braces keep you from getting hurt, or do they provide some support as well?

Thanks.

And I always thought oil was oil, til today that is. I decided to try klotz for some reason. Well, I'm glad I did. My bike runs better on that stuff than it did on the Honda HP2. Go figure.

are you talking about the astrik knee braces ? they add support and protection by limiting the movement of your leg in certain directions. if your wanting them to keep your legs from being sore after long rides they wont help at all for that . thats all strength and conditioning

Astrik or whoever makes them, yeah. I can deal with my legs being sore, it's my right knee that's been sore after the last couple of rides.

I also just want to make sure I don't completely screw myself up in the event of a major get off. Already got lucky once, don't want to chance it I guess. Kinda hard to make money when you are injured. lol. Given my job, I don't want to get hurt too bad.

I'm trying to remember, I saw an ad once for a company whos braces were actually covered by medical insurance. Any one know what I'm talking about?

Mountain biking, or just riding alot? I work 12 hour shifts with the 3-2-2 schedule, so I have plenty of days off to ride. I've been trying to ride once a week.

Thanks.

I hear you on the price thing. That's why I'm currently looking at all my old MX rags trying to find the ad about being covered by insurance.

I guess I could always just get one for the right knee and later the left knee, if they make them that fit me anyways. I've got some large legs.

There's great debate over knee braces and whether they are good or bad. There is evidence to support them as good and evidence to say they are bad. I currently run pads. I have no real need for the braces right now. Some of the top riders I know do use the braces. My friend Kirsten runs EVS and loves them. It all depends....

Does she wear them to prevent injury, or because her knees already bother her?
