I currently own a 2000 gsxr 750. I have wanted a motard since the first time I saw one in action. Now my question is- How come everybody looks at me stupid when I mention that I want a motard? Do they really suck that bad? I just want a bike to ride around town on, I am not intrested in taking trips on my bike. Do I really deserve all the looks, or do I need to be the one looking at them stupid when I have to explain what a super motard is? Also please dont hold anything back, I want honest opions.
Supermoto just hasn't become mainstream yet. It has really caught on out west where they actually have some corners but for those of us who live in straight highway land they are not yet popular. I think in a few years things will change and you won't be getting stupid looks.
If you like Supermoto get one and you can go around preaching SM gospel to all the non believers.

If your getting weird looks from your fellow SS riders, they need to grow up. Chances are, the right SM will tear them a new one around the country road corners.
They also probably haven't seen this super sexy SM:
That Husky is really more of a hooligan naked bike. I love the looks but it really isn't a Supermoto. It kinda crosses the line like the new BMW and KTM Duke. Supermotos are or are based off off road and enduro bikes. With a lot of the styling from their off road brethren still in place.

I had a SM for 3 weeks before it got stolen. It was hands-down the most fun city bike I've ever owned. It also destroyed the super tight twisties that I didn't like taking my F4 or Falco on. The only drawback to a good SM IMO is the fact that they are a bit unsuited to the highway. That and the shorter range on many. Since I'm going to be commuting a lot now, I can't really validate a SM for my only bike as much as I'd love to have another. But if you can, I say get it!!!

It's because supersport riders can't believe you would want something LESS POWERFUL than your 750. Even though a supermoto can just about outhandle any bike on the street in the twisties.

They don't know what they're missing. Tell 'em to shove it up their asses and you'll be out riding (but that's my answer to just about every thing involving people, though...).

Supermoto rocks at the track. I have 2005 KTM 525 SMR. It can really handle anything I do on the track. They make you look good. I had a DR-Z400 SM and I loved it, only I commuted on it and it sucked even for my 22 mi commute. So my SM is track only, which is good, because it breaks a lot, but when it is on, it rocks.

I live in the bay too. I ride my xr400 Sumo 6 days a week back and forth to ccsf from san bruno. Soon also I'll be back at work, the xr is getting a workout and hasn't complained one bit.
