Default Painting the gas tank

What kind of paint can you use to paint the gas tank without it all bubbling up? Also whats a good paint remover (the kid painted the plastics black and its all chipping away) to use, i heard you could use something called "Zip Strip"?

I woulda answered when you first posted but I was late for a doc appoint.

If its plastic basicly nothing will stick paint wise.

Re: getting the old off be real careful, DO NOT USE ZIP STRIP!! it will possible melt the plastics!! If you use ANY removers be Xtra careful!!

There are paints that will stick but the cost is outrageous. Im talking close to $500 a gallon and it needs ap[plied by a pro with the correct equipment. (its the stuff they paint flexible car bumpers with and Im sure youve seen how well it sticks... one tap and chunks fall off)

Better deal if you want to change color is buy new plastics. I know its expensive but better than wasting your time painting.

Check around you should be able to change all the plastic for under 300, tank included. If you really wanna cheery it out you can mix colors and get a trick seat cover too. Ceet makes awesome covers, only kind Ill buy.

Consider a larger tank if you plan on trail riding making the color change feesable.... The stock tank will have about a 100 mile range.... not good if you are like me and go on the "munky butt" rides Ya cant find good premix in the jungle

Clarke plastics are awesome for the $ Dont buy Acerbis unless you cant find anything else, there super Xpensive! I got a Clarke tank that was 3.9 gallons (nearly twice what the stocker was) for 149.00 for my DR. It was actually better than the original tank shape wise.
