Yep. I go through withdraw for four months every year when I can't ride my babys. See if this helps:
Just imagine, perfect dirt, nice and loamy, not too wet, not dusty. You come up to a beautiful soft berm on your trusty two stroke (you just can't have as much fun on a four stroke) and start gassin' it, just feathering that clutch oh so perfectly before you're even pivoting around the corner. You lean it so freakin' much your grip is almost dragging the ground, right on the edge of nirvana. Dirt is flying everywhere behind you and as you leave that berm it becomes nothing but a memory as you ride off into that golden sunset...
Yeah, that was pretty cheesy; but either way, that probably just made it worse for ya. Did for me anyways... damn(only two more months!!!)

Dammit! Gonna make me get another dirt bike or quad I remember some places exactly like that. In an AMA race I turned a corner and saw a nice little berm.....gave it the gas topped the berm and the bottom dropped out of the Earth and was a nice drop to the ground with some good air on it

Ha ha, gotta love it. I don't care where I'm goin' in life, always gonna have a 2stroke dirtbike somewhere in the garage...
I miss my ol' KX250. I make the move to Chicago might have to pick one up again.

Hey Carolyn, how ya likin' that SXF? I just can't decide whether to give up the 2 stroke ghost or not, for racin' anyways. I'm about to try to go pro and I just don't think I can quite do it... oh well. Didn't you have a hard time gettin' an '05 SXF?

I've only ridden my old YZ125 before and honestly, the only reason why I jumped on the 4stroke was because I just couldn't get get the hang of cornering the bike. But now that I've ridden the 250sxf for 2 months, I love jumping on my brother's Husky CR125 for a few laps.
I rode my friend's CRF250R and man my bike is a rocket compared to hers! My scooter pulls hard in the first 3gears (have yet to see 4th 5th or 6th for good reason ) and I love my suspension. A couple of people that have riden the bike say they like the powerband but the suspension is just too stiff for their liking. My hubby and brother both have 450sx's and they're surprised at the pull the 250sxf has just in general. I've done the oil change and it's easy to get to the filter not to mention the air filter is cake to change (no pulling the seat off). I also checked the valves after approx 15hrs and they were right on spec
A friend of mine races intermidiate and he races both a YZ125 and a YZ250F. He loves riding both and he's actually pretty fast on both. I'd say most of the pro's I've seen in AZ ride 4strokes because of the wider powerband. But I'm just a beginner so what do I know
The same guy that sold me my '03 KX100 also sold me my KTM. His son broke his collar bone with 10hrs on the bike and since the season was ending, he just decided to sell the bike. The 250 was his son's main race bike and was never riden for practice. He never opened the motor and all he did was an oil change/air filter changes. I had an '06 in order but it was on back order for 2 months, so I got the '05 and saved $2,000 in the process
If you're anywhere near Tucson AZ let me know, I'll let you take my bike out down the desert.
Sorry for the thread jack and the LONG a$$ reply OFFICER
Wish I was gonna be down there. Definitely like to move down there though, my life stops in the winter and I hate it. Yeah, the wider powerband would be the only reason I would make the switch. And that would just be in the 125 class. I'd still race a 250 two stroke in the heavyweight class. I can just toss a 125 around in the air and around tight corners, that right there has won me a lot of races. But when I need the torque to get over these supercross triples it almost comes down to a safety factor cause a 125 is so easy to miss the right drive.
BTW, KTM's, Husky's? Ur my kind of people. I definitely appreciate those who like bein' a little different. I don't ever see myself owning or racing anything but a KTM, been on one for damn near fifteen years now. The hydraulic clutch, etc. just are unbeatable.
...and you seem to know quite a bit for a beginner, I'm impressed.

Yeah, we get a lot of slack for riding orange since a lot of the riders at our local track ride blue/red. After seeing my friend run the high speed back straight (2 80ft table tops and 1 triple) at the local track on my bike in 4th gear, I was even MORE impressed!
And thanks, I have a lot to learn but hopefully I'll put it together in 2 weeks because I'm racing for the first time
