My son said I was a squid too. He was laughing at your message.
I wont let him ride without all full gear, and as a matter of fact, I dumped soon after that pic riding too close on his rear, and he hit the brakes hard. That XT600 I learned, is a big pig.
Two choices - hit him, or grab a BUNCH of brake. I hit too much front brake, and I was down in an instant. He freaked out, shed some tears feeling like it was his fault (NOT!) while I was on the ground, and I made sure once I was up quickly he understood I was OK.
I have since invested in full dirt gear. Im a gear nazi on the street, and I have since learned that dirt is no excuse not to wear gear.
If you have kids, get them involved in what you do, what you love, no matter what it is. I know if Im gone tomorrow, or many years from now, he will still love to ride. If I leave him with anything, it will be a love for anything on two wheels. I am blessed.
