HAHA

sounds just like one of my friends.... some people will do anything to go riding
My painter buddy's truck was broke and he wanted to go riding with the usual gang on the weekend so whats he do? Borrows the wifes cherry 62 Nova removes the trunk lid hoists the Hondas front wheel in the trunk using the trunk hinges to strap the thing down and tows the thing 75 miles to where we usually ride. He liked it so much he took the Nova away from the wife bought her a VW beatle and used the Nova for a good 3-4 years until a few beers punched a hole in the oil pan resulting in its death
Funny thing here is he drove it a good 50 miles with zero oil in it then abandonded it a few blocks from my house. When we were taking the battery out when he decided to dump it I fired it up then had him pull the battery and took the throttle return spring off and used it to hold it WFO!
We went down to the beach watched the sunset drank a couple beers headed back to my house and the dam Nova was still running!!!!! Not very well but it was still going! Never seen a car make so much ugly racket (sounded like a herd of monkeys with hammers turned lose in the block) and backfire through the carb continously shooting fire like that! (from the toasted valves letting the combustion fire into the intake is my guess)
That was a pretty amazing site.... and a testament to chevys 230 6 cylinder!
Here's a picture of him towing his bike right down one of the main streets in Honolulu heading for the freeway, I was behing him laughing my ass off in my 4x4 Toy and took a pic
When the Nova died it was "upgraded" with a 69 Olds Cutlass supreme. He's standing next to the almost finished Olds....
Both cars were "modded" (thanks to way too many beers) into off road vehicles in my shop where I built and maintained the circle track cars I raced.
The Olds was a true "Classic" it was something else. After the "required" convertable top option was done thanks to my homelite rescue saw, it got a custom roof made from palm fronds! Too funny.
It also got a skid plate a lesson learned from the Nova. I had a steel plate 1/4 inch thick 2 feet wide and 5 feet or so long laying in the shop so it got wheeled under the front on a jacl and welded to the front crossmember that held the control arms on and then welded to the tranny crossmember.
That allowed it to "glide" over just about anything.
Extra ground clearance came from some home brewed spring spacers front and back. Then the torch got used to open the rear wheelwells up to let my old pipebuggy tera tires fit back there.... No shit. That car could go dam near any place my Toy 4x4 would. If it couldnt make it I'd drag it LMAO
It actually lasted almost 5 years of weekend insanity! That car was a classic on the Island, nearly everyone knew of it or knew John.... he was the sort of guy that if you said Hi to he'd sit down and drink all night with you LOL
