I'm much more inclined toward the sportier, nimbler, and *much* less electronic or gadgety. For me travelling alone, actually, the Monster is an excellent touring bike. I can do 6-700 miles a day on that just fine. It just doesn't make passengers happy. At all. So the ST2, as more-or-less a 2V Monster with some wind protection, bags, and an adequate passenger seat, would probably do the job just fine.

Wind protection, and a cushier seat, and probably some clipons, are all that my Monster would need to be a perfect tourer.
